So, finally, we witness the birth of the second royal baby on 2nd of May. Prince William and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton became the proud parents of a baby girl. The mother and daughter left the hospital shortly after 6 p.m. The announcement of the baby’s name is still due, and will probably be announced after she had met the Queen.
A Chronology of the Royal Birth
This is a moment for which a lot of people have been waiting since Kate’s pregnancy was made public. It has been reported that the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to the Saint Mary’s hospital’s Lingdo Wing at about 6 AM in the morning, after she went into labor. This was the same place where Kate had delivered her son in 2013.
At 8.34 AM on 2nd May, the royal princess was born and she weighed 8lbs 3ozs. At 11AM the Kensington Palace made the official announcement about the arrival of the new member to the royal family, and in the front of the Lingdo Wing a town crier broke the news to the world.
The news was also flashed soon on the Twitter, and there was a mass frenzy among the Twitter population. At about 3 PM, an easel announcing the birth of the royal princess was placed in front of the Buckingham Palace, according to the royal tradition. Royal fans who have gathered outside the palace or the Hospital cheered and celebrated.
Shortly after 6 PM in the evening, Kate Middleton and her husband left the Saint Mary’s hospital with their new born kid and her brother. Before leaving, they presented their daughter to the world for the first time. Kate was wearing a floral “buttercup” frock in yellow, by Jenny Peckham.
Earlier, when she had given birth to her son, Prince George, she appeared in front of the world in a blue polka dot frock by the same designer, and it was said that her dress was designed as a tribute to the dress worn by the deceased Princess Diana, when she left the Hospital after giving birth to Prince William. The Royal Princess of Cambridge was seen sleeping peacefully wrapped in a white shawl and a crème bonnet on her head.
The couple posed for the people on the steps of the hospital, but did not speak to the media. It may take a few days for the formal announcement of the baby’s name. In the meanwhile bookies are placing bets on names like Alice, Charlotte and even Diana.
