Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, two individuals and celebrities who made fairy tale romance and wedding a reality have called it quits after 11 years of their marriage. The couple announced on the actress’ website GOOP that they have been trying to make their marriage work for the past one year and announced that they are opting for “Conscious Uncoupling”.
The couple also announced that they love each other, they will remain separated. The 41 year old Oscar winning actress and the 37 year old musician, who is also the frontman of the band Coldplay, got married in 2003 and are blessed with two children, a 9 year old girl named Apple and a 7 year old boy named Moses.
The couple, while announcing their split, also emphasized that before being celebrities, they are parents first, and their priority is their two children. They also requested their fans and the media to allow them some privacy at this emotionally trying time. The couple, who have been known to be private about their relationship and the way they handle it, has said that they will be co-parenting their two children – Apple and Moses.
But as it is with all high profile divorces, Gwyneth and Chris have also been subjected to the speculation as to what is the real reason that led to the split of this couple, who has been seen accompanying each other to events like the Golden Globes and the Help Haiti Home gala, but seldom seen on the red carpet.
While some have blamed Gwyneth for the split, speculating infidelity (which she has vehemently dispelled), others have said that there was a “transatlantic rift” in Chris and Gwyneth’s relationship. It has been speculated that while Chris wanted to live in London, Gwyneth was not enthusiastic about returning to London and wanted to stay back in Los Angeles. The real reason, however, remains unknown as the couple remains tight-lipped.
