The 82nd Annual Academy Awards wasn’t such a surprise for anyone. The Hollywood glamorous stars joined together for another night of expectations, hopes and triumph. The show was hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
The best actress of the year was nominated Sandra Bullock for her hit movie “The Blind Side”. The actress stole the Oscar in a competition with Meryl Streep, who was one of the expected winners for this category.
The Actor in a Leading Role was named Jeff Bridges for his act in “ Crazy Heart”, while the best Actor in a Supporting Role was taken by Christopher Waltz for his amazing play in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
The Oscar for best actress in a Supporting Role went to Mo’Nique in her role as an abusive mother in Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.
The biggest clash for the Best Director category between two – Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron did not happen.
Avatar was named winner even before the ceremony, but Hurt Locker by Bigelow won six Oscars, while Avatar won only three for art direction, cinematography and visual effects. The director of Hurt Locker Kathryn Bigelow broke a record as she turned to be the first female film-maker to grab an Academy Award.
Hurt Locker won Oscar in six categories-best picture, best original screenplay, best sound edition, best sound mixing, best director and best film editing.
