The fragment from “Kick Ass” presented at Comic Con in San Diego amazed the fans, but it seems they weren’t the only ones impressed by the project.
According to Risky Biz, 3 major studios are fighting for the distribution rights of “Kick Ass”. Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are all eager to get their hands on “Kick Ass”. The favorite seems to be Universal which launched the” Wanted” also written by Mark Millar.
“Kick Ass” was independently financed because of the film’s story which merges the children with explicit, forbidden, violence. To be precise, “Kick Ass” shows a 10 year old girl cutting people to pieces.
So being R- Rated, “Kick Ass” will be released in March 2010 as “Watchmen” was released in March 2009.
The main character of the movie is a teenager, named Dave Lizewski, who decides one day to reinvent himself as a super hero, although without super powers, called Kick Ass. This hero will be played by the British actor Aaron Johnson who can be seen in “Angus, Thongs and a perfect Snogging”.
Nicolas Cage will play the part of an ex cop in a constant battle with a drug dealer and who, in the same time, is training his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to become a lethal weapon.
The notorious McLovin from Superbad (Christopher Mintz- Plasse) will play the nemesis of Kick Ass, and Lindsy Fonseca will be the romantic interest of the hero.
